1. STRENGTHENING ANTI-CORRUPTION CHARACTER ON LEADER THROUGH PROPHETIC TRAINING AND COUNSELING

Authors: SUS BUDIHARTO , RETNO KUMOLOHADI

Abstract: This study aimed to determine the change in the subject's personality predisposed anti-corruption by using training and counseling based on the prophetic values. Subject was expected to increase the understanding and appreciation of the values exemplified by the prophet that is honest and guided by conscience (sidiq), professional and reliable (trustworthy), easy to comprehend and understand others in communicating (tabligh), and able to be a problem solver (fathonah). Subject was leader in the official Local Government in the Province "X", under 57 years old, has a position as Bureau Chief, Head and Chief Subdivision, with Echelon: II, III and IV. Anticorruption Personality Scale is used to reveal the nature or character of the anti-corruption is based on indicators of the Corruption Eradication Commission. These character are responsible, discipline, honest, simple, work hard, independent, fair, brave, pay attention. Scores of 1-10 numeric scale that indicates the level or levels of

2. ADDING AN EXTRA LINK REDUCE TRAVEL TIME IN ROAD NETWORKS – MYTH OR FACT?

Authors: M H M R SHYAMALI DILHANI , CYRIL KARIYAWASAM

Abstract: Any real life situation where there are nodes and edges, can be modeled as graphs. Road networks are one such example where roads can be modeled as edges and nodes can be modeled as cities. Such a model can be used to analyze and optimize various processes that take place in a road network. These models are commonly used to optimize the distance or time of travel between cities. In this study a model is developed where the speed of a vehicle is a linear function of the traffic volume. This model can be used identify locations of possible traffic congestion. When traffic congestion is observed in a road network traffic planners tend to add extra links to divert some of the traffic. This act which is done with the good intention sometimes worsens the situation. Such a situation can occur in a road network where there are two parallel roads between two cities and the two roads are connected in between by one or more links. This paper explores the criteria under which this problem can ari

3. VOLATILITY TRANSMISSION BETWEEN WTI AND BRENT CRUDE OIL MARKETS

Authors: SANG HOON KANG

Abstract: Transmission mechanisms of volatility between crude oil markets have drawn the attention of numerous academics and practitioners because they both play crucial roles in portfolio and risk management in crude oilmarkets. However, there has been no consensus on the evidence of volatility spillover between WTI and Brent oil prices in the literature. In this context, we reexamined the volatility linkages between two representative crude oil markets using a VECM and an asymmetric bivariate GARCH model. First, looking at the return transmission through the VECM test, we found a long-run equilibrium and bidirectional relationshipbetween two crude oil markets. However, the estimation results of the GARCH-BEKK model suggest that there is unidirectional volatility spillover from the WTI market to the Brent market, implying that the WTI markettends to exert influence over the Brent market and not vice versa. Regarding asymmetric volatility transmission, we also found that bad news volatility in t

4. THAI STOCK INDEX DIRECTIONAL PREDICTION USING HIGHER ORDER DIFFERENCES AND HIGHER ORDER LAG INPUTS

Authors: KRUNG SINAPIROMSARAN , PHATTRADANAI SAMURWONG

Abstract: Stock directional classification technique proposed in this paper is to determine the return direction of stock market. Some previous works used a support vector machine to predict the return direction of the stock market index based on first order difference, stock return, as inputs. Our paper will use higher order differences and higher order lags as inputs for a support vector machine. By using higher order differences and higher order lags of time series data, the experimental results show the improvement of the prediction accuracy with respect to the number of lags and the number of difference orders. In addition, results of this technique show better daily directional prediction accuracy comparing with the other models.

5. NETWORK AND INNOVATION AS SMES EXPORT STRATEGY: CAUSATION OR EFFECTUATION APPROACH? INDONESIAN CASE STUDIES

Authors: Muchsin S. Shihab , Tri Wismiarsi

Abstract: This study is a qualitative research, which focuses on internationalization of born global SMEs. It was found that born global SMEs use networks and innovation to enter, grow and survive in their overseas markets. They used effectuation rather than causation approach to develop networks and do their innovations. The data were collected from 8 SMEs from different areas of Indonesia. The research findings contribute to the explanation theory of born global firms, especially through network development and innovation of SMEs.

6. THE BUDGET MISALLOCATION MECHANISM IN INDONESIA’S BUREAUCRACY

Authors: Muchsin S. Shihab

Abstract: This article aims at analyzing the mechanism by which budget misallocation in the Indonesian government bureaucratic system occurs. This study is conducted on the Yogyakarta Special Region government. The fraud triangle analysis is used as the tool of analysis in assessing multiple government projects in 2013. The results of this study indicate the potential systematic misuse of government fund which involves bureaucrats and private sector as good and service suppliers. The misconducts occur throughout the stages of planning, auction, execution, and reporting of the government projects. This suggests the existence of the so-called “opportunistic bureaucracy” that could potentially lead to corruption in the Indonesian government especially in the regional government.

7. INTEGRATION OF ENGINEERING EDUCATION AND RESEARCH WITH COMMUNITY SERVICE

Authors: TAZEEN SHARIF

Abstract: The strong interaction between teaching and research encourages faculty members to inspire, motivate, energize, stimulate, and promote their students towards the real goals of engineering education. Due to the need for education process improvements, integration of teaching and research with community service is necessary for the advancement of society. The efforts invested for the engineering education, the scientific research, and the combination of teaching and research with community service are not only essential for industrial development, but are crucial for our life, nature, and to enhance the technological and intellectual level of our society. This paper presents the benefits associated with incorporating teaching and research into several community services while also discussing the establishment of such a mechanism inengineering education through CAUSE Program.

8. ASSESSMENT ON THE IMPACT OF SUPERVISION TOWARDS ACHIEVING FIRST CLASS RESULT IN PUBLIC EXAMINATION IN NIGERIA

Authors: ISA YUGUDA KOTIRDE , JAILANI MD YUNOS

Abstract: The examinations in secondary schools in Nigeria today are facing some problems in terms of assessing students’ performance and some of these problems that are happening during this examination are so terrible to the entire society. However, the purpose of this supervision is to monitor the activities of both student and the key personnel of the examination bodies and to find out the effectiveness of supervisors, principals and some lasting solutions associated with the problems in conduct of three national examinations body namely WAEC, NECO and JAMB. However, look at the performance and competency of supervisors, principals and teachers efficiency in supervisions. In addition, it highlighted the impediments for effective supervision in our secondary schools in Nigeria. Education is an important segment of educational ladder in preparing students for the tertiary institutions. These examinations were conducted in a situation where high level of examination malpractice were adhered and

Authors: JAILANI MD YUNOS , NELLYANIGSIH , RAHMAT HIDAYAT

Abstract: Purpose- This study was undertaken with a purpose to investigate and to know the extent to which the influence of element - the element of service quality on customer loyalty, which is more instrumental elements, whether the elements are physically real or otherwise?, Where researchers also added an element of Perceived value can also be a contribution in improving customer loyalty , this study also aims to compare the reality and expectations of the variable quality of service, perceived value and loyalty that occurs in an educational service agency. Design / methodology / approach. Analysis carried out two stages , first through pathways analysis to determine the role/influence either partially or simultaneously variable service quality and customer loyalty value, then we use ImportancePerformance Analysis ( IPA ) in order to know the level of Importance and Performance of quality attributes services , perceived value and customer loyalty are described in the tabulation or quadrant,
