1. IMPORTANCE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN REVERSE LOGISTICS: THE STATE OF THE ART

Authors: FULYA CALLIALP KUNTER , OZALP VAYVAY , TOLGA TEMUCIN

Abstract: The primary target in this study is to present the tendency of academicians and practitioners towards the reverse logistics (RL) issue. Hence, the literature related to the issue is examined in detail and at the end of the study some valuable information is gathered according to the distribution of artificial intelligence (AI) techniques in various segments of RL. Based on the results presented, it’ll be appropriate to decide whether it is a necessity to continue considering the RL concept in managerial processes or not.

2. PRESERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF GIAO CO LAM (GYNOSTEMMA PENTAPHYLLUM) IN THE HOT TROPICS OF VIETNAM

Authors: TRAN VAN MINH , PHAM CAO KHAI

Abstract: The internode segments of Giao Co Lam (Gynostemma pentaphyllum) sterilized with diluted solution of javel (50%) for 20 minutes reached to 73.33% sterile explants. In vitro cutting stem segments of Giao Co Lam cultured on MS medium supplemented with 1.0 mg/L BA and 0.1 mg/L NAA gave the highest shoot induction (6.8 shoots/ explant). The regenerated shoots cultured on MS ½ medium were suitable for growth of shoots with 5.2 cm in height and 4.0 leaves per plantlet. For root induction, the MS ½ medium supplemented with 0.25 mg/L IBA was appropriate and the root length could be in 7.6 cm in this medium. The rate of survival plantlets is 85% in garden.

3. PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT OF ECO-FRIENDLY BRAKE COMPOSITES REINFORCED ORGANIC DUSTS FOR TYPICAL CHARACTERISTICS

Authors: AKINCIOGLU , G. , S. , OKTEM H. , UYGUR , I.

Abstract: Easy to supply and cheap materials like agricultural wastes are now appearing as a candidate materials in the brake pads development with commercial production and environmental consideration. In this study, asbestos-free automotive brake pads produced from walnut shell dusts (WAS) and wollastonite (WOS) with phenolic-resin binder was evaluated. Two non-asbestos friction material samples containing walnut shell dusts and wollastonite jute fibers from biomass as biodegradable components were prepared, also including several from natural resources, such as, basalt fibers, zircon, barite, and vermiculite. The physical, mechanical properties of the brake pad were studied.

4. PRODUCTION OF CELLULOLYTIC ENZYME FROM PAPER SLUDGE BY GEOBACILLUS KAUSTOPHILUS C1 AND ITS APPLICATION FOR GLUCOSE PRODUCTION FROM OF RICE STRAW

Abstract: The objective of this study was to produce cellulolytic enzyme from paper sludge (PS), a solid waste from pulp and paper manufacturer by Geobacillus kaustophilus strain C1. When PS was used as sole carbon source, cellulolytic enzyme, mainly β-glucosidase was produced by the strain C1 which exhibited good properties, high temperature and high glucose concentration tolerance. Cellulolytic enzyme from strain C1 was afterward applied to hydrolyze ammonia-treated rice straw (ARS) for glucose production. Glucose was produced as a major hydrolysis product. Degree of saccharification of cellulose in ARS to glucose was improved when crude enzyme of strain C1 was combined with commercial Trichoderma reesei cellulase (Celluclast 1.5 L) and revealed 78.1% glucan saccharification. Glucose from ARS can be subsequently used as raw material for production of value-added products in many industries.

5. THE STUDIES ON A NEW TYPE OF ENZYMATIC DYNAMIC KINETIC RESOLUTION BASED ON ESTERIFICATION.

Authors: RYSZARD OSTASZEWSKI

Abstract: Chiral, β,γ-Unsaturated carboxylic acids derivatives are important intermediates in the synthesis of many biologically active compounds; for example anti-microtubule agents [1], Bisnorvernolepin [2] and Vineomycinone B2 [3]. Recently we have performed studies on enzymatic kinetic resolution based on esterification of carboxylic acids with orthoestres, used as a donor of alkoxy group [4,5]. As a compound for our studies, we choose 2-benzyl-2-methylbut-3-enic acid, which contains stereogenic quaternary carbon center. This compound is a substrate for the synthesis of irreversible inhibitors of a carboxypeptidase A, a representative zinc-containing proteolytic enzyme [6]. 2-Benzyl-2-methylbut-3-enic acid was synthesized in 4-step synthesis, containing enzymatic hydrolysis of benzylmethylmalonic dimethylester [6]. We propose short, two step synthesis of optically active 2-benzyl-2-methylbut-3-enic acid from commercially available tiglic acid. The results of optimization of the kinetic resol

6. THE EFFECTS OF BARRAGES/HEAD WORKS ON RIVERS IN PUNJAB PAKISTAN ON WATER QUALITY PARAMETERS MEASURED THROUGH ONE-WAY REPEATED MEASURES ANOVA

Authors: UZMA NAWAZ

Abstract: The river system of the agricultural country Pakistan comprises mainly of five rivers with mainstream flow in the largest province: Punjab. The water quality is determined by the various standard quality parameters that may vary country wise in the world. A longitudinal data was collected for three main water quality parameters by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics Islamabad measured in eighteen sampling season from Jan 2011- Dec 2013 at the head works and barrages of two major rivers of Punjab. The data was analyzed for its impact on agricultural land and quality of water. The data has been worked out with One-Way Repeated Measures ANOVA for the three main chemical water quality components: the pH level, Electrical Conductivity and Sodium Adsorption Ratio. The study empirically demonstrated that each of the three parameters varies widely at different barrages and head works of the same river in different sampling seasons influencing the agricultural land nearby and alkaline status of t

7. ENHANCEMENT OF CO-SOLVENT TRANSESTERIFICATION USING REACTIVE DISTILLATION

Authors: FAKKRUDEEEN ALI AHAMED A , HARIPRASAD VP

Abstract: The transesterification of waste cooking oil (WCO) is studied extensively. The efficiency and economical operation of bio fuel production depend on the ease of operation and cost control. Co-solvent hexane can reduce the time of reaction and enhance the recovery of an ester. Reaction, solvent recovery, and product separation are done in many steps. Reactive distillation offers an efficient and economical method of production of bio diesel. This research paper deals with optimizing reactive distillation parameters for co-solvent transesterification of WCO.

Keywords: Reactive distillation, Transesterification, Co-solvent, Solvent recovery, Waste cooking oil and Bio diesel.
