1. A PROBE INTO THE RELATIONSHIP OF HUMAN RESOURCE PRACTICES WITH HUMAN RESOURCE OPTIMIZATION

Abstract: This research investigates the relationship between best human resource (HR) practices and optimized HR among public and private sector of Pakistan. Main objective of this research is to explore the impact of best HR practices on optimized HR in organizations of Pakistan. This study considered five practices such as recruitment and selection, training and development, performance appraisal, promotion and compensation and social benefits as best HR practices. The sample consists of public and private sector organizations and data was collected from all managerial and non managerial employees in various public and private organization of Pakistan. The result shows that there is significant and positive relationship between best HR practices and Optimize HR.

3. THE ABILITY OF MORAL INTENSITY TO PREDICT PURCHASING RATES OF ONLINE MUSIC CONSUMERS

Abstract: A study involving 454 respondents gathered from a random sample of American adults using SurveyMonkey found that a single variable, which described moral intensity, was able to account for 26.4% of the variance in the purchasing rates for consumers who acquire music online. The predictive ability of moral intensity was found to be significantly higher than the corresponding rates for age, gender, education, income, disposable income, and fear of legal sanction

4. THE TECHNO-ECONOMIC PROSPECT OF RETROFITTING NATURAL GAS COMBINED CYCLE POWER PLANTS IN CHINA: A CASE STUDY OF CCGT POWER PLANTS IN HUIZHOU AND SHENZHEN, GUANGDONG

Abstract: Half of the gas power plants in Guangdong in the Pearl River Delta of China have high retrofit potential. We implement a detailed case study of retrofitting an existing CCGT power plant located on Daya Bay in Huizhou city in Guangdong. Using a GIS (geographical information system) base analysis, all three power plants demonstrate credible routes to transport CO2 to the Pearl River Basin for storage in a sub-seabed saline formation. The plant consists of two 400 MW units (9F turbine), running as a mid-merit plant. We also investigate the economics of retrofitting using a static analysis of the levelised cost of electricity and the cost of CO2 avoidance. In addition, we apply a stochastic cash flow model to identify the retrofitting option value in CCGT power plants. The value of the retrofit option for CCGT is found to be relatively low compared with that in large coal-fired power plants. 5. COLLABORATION MAKES AN ELITE SCHOOL? EMPIRICAL INVESTIGATION INTO KOREAN UNIVERSITIES

Abstract: Scientific collaboration is a popular issue in the literature on knowledge production. Although previous studies show that scientific teamwork becomes dominant and is related to the impact of scientific results,empirical results of this research reveal that collaboration itself is not “the almighty” for quality research. This study finds the following three stylized facts. First, Korean universities’ collaborative research with other domestic schools increases dramatically among four authorship structures (international collaboration, between-school collaboration, within-school collaboration, and solo a.k.a. no collaboration). Second, we affirmed the advantage of collaborative research but it varies among the type of collaboration. For example, the between-school collaboration is not better option than the within-school collaboration for the elite universities. 6. TECHNOLOGICAL DIVERSIFICATION, R&D AND INNOVATION A FIRM-LEVEL EXPLORATION OF KOREAN MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY

Abstract: This paper investigates the effects of technological diversification on innovation and performance by using Korean firm-level data over the period between 2001 and 2009. We improved the conventional CDM model sothat we can consider the relationship among R and D activities, innovation activities, financial performance and technological diversification. In order to examine this relationship we made use of a large sample bymerging different data sets including firms’ financial statements, Korean Innovation Survey data, and patent application information, consisting of 5,861 firms. The empirical results imply a proportional relationship between various activities, as follows: i) technological diversification and R and D activities, ii) innovation activities and R and D efforts, and iii) innovation output, measured by the number of patent applications, and technological diversification. 7. THE CONCEPT OF TRADITIONAL HEALING AND ITS ROLE IN AFRICAN MODERN SOCIETY

Abstract: Traditional healers are essential in traditional and modern African societies, not only because of their special powers to heal the sick and the dying but also because of their link to the spirits of the departed, which is believed to be a special cultural gift. Among other categories of healers, they are still consulted and respected in Southern Africa. It is for their unique specialised ability to heal body and soul, protect people against ailments and help people maintain the balance between the mental, physical and spiritual states that people view them as the soul of society. Although we live in highly civilised societies that prefer to use medical doctors rather than traditional healers, some people still consult and require the services of traditional healers. It is against this background that in this article an attemptwill be made to interrogate the significance of special herbs in African society and to look at the number of Africans that still consult traditional healers.
