2. OPERATIONAL DESIGN FOR EFFECTIVE CHURCH MANAGEMENT

Authors: BRIGID APPIAH OTOO , EDWARD FEKPE

Abstract: The design of a service, including churches, does not only impact its administration and performance but also its sustainability. This paper explores how the design of a church, as a service fits within the three-stage conceptual framework of a generic operations design: the concept, package, and process. The findings are expected to highlight the critical success factors in church design and management where success is measured in part by the number of followers and value that they derive from the services offered.

6. ALBANIA POLITICAL ISSUES. WOMEN`S MINOR ROLE IN DECISION-MAKING. REALITY AND CHALLENGES

Authors: AIDA GACE , TEUTA BALLIU

Abstract: Taking into consideration the statistics of the population, compared to the participation of both genders in the political life, it is not new to say that the woman is very little represented and participates just as little. The factors of women absence at the Albanian political level, as well as in all the other countries of the world, are social and historical. History is not part of our influence. In fact it affects us. But factors related to the present, social factors are part of our policy and interest. The Major political movements have arisen whenever political groups have had the courage to articulate the vital need for change. The fulfillment of this need is considered key to the expected improvement and thanks to the spread of the ideas it has taken a wide social extension. Is the woman nowadays facing a situation that requires one or more vital needs for change? You cannot bring or ask changes if the social group is satisfied with its current condition. 7. CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND ITS IMPACT ON FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE

Authors: JEKATERINA KUZMINA

Abstract: Due to globalization processes and technological development, companies are receiving more influence on global society than ever. Therefore, business misconduct causes enormous harm to individuals, communities, environments, and stakeholders, whereas ethical behavior is considered to increase the shareholders` value. This confidence has sparked a worldwide call for sustainable, responsible and ethical corporate behavior that gives companies a competitive advantage and greater social and, eventually, economical value. Despite an extensive analysis of the field, there is no consensus in the scientific literature regarding whether corporate social responsibility leads to higher company value in the eyes of financial market participants. The main goal of this paper is to examine the impact of a company`s corporate social responsibility on its financial performance. In order to achieve the objective of the research, quantitative analysis is used; in particular the event study method is appl

Abstract: Various surveys mentioned that the commercial benefits of Internet crowdsourcing are reaped largely by people located in metro areas and smaller cities. The impact of crowdsourcing on the rural population is questionable. The aim of this research is to bridge widening urban and rural divide by providing knowledge-intensive crowdsourcing tasks to rural work force which could provide long term benefits to them as well as improve supporting infrastructure. This paper reports an initial study of the demographic of small samples of twenty two rural homeworkers in Scotland, their motivation to do crowdsourcing work, present main occupation, computer skills, views on rural infrastructure and finally their level of skill in solving three spatial visualization tests. The survey shows that flexible hours of working, extra income, and work life balance are the three important factors emphasized as motivational constructs to do crowdsourcing work. Their skills on solving a spatial visualization te

12. REVISITING THE SRI PERFORMANCE DEBATE : A HETEROGENEITY-CONSISTENT APPROACH

Authors: LIEVEN DE MOOR , TIM VERHEYDEN

Abstract: In earlier research, socially responsible investment (SRI) funds were found to have either a slight underperformance or a statistically indistinguishable performance vis-à-vis conventional funds. However, the approach to testing for this performance differential has mostly been based on a dichotomous distinction between both types of funds. In our paper, we revisit earlier SRI mutual fund performance research by introducing heterogeneity in both the extent to which mutual funds can be socially responsible and the effect of covariates on estimated fund returns. To do so, we implement a robust process-oriented social responsibility sorting tool and a quantile regression estimation approach.

13. PREDICTING FLOW DIRECTION OF SOIL EROSION USING GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEM (GIS)

Authors: RODZIAH , H. , SAFIAH YUSMAH , M.Y.

Abstract: Soil loss from one area is normally transferred to and deposited in another by flow processes. The direction of flow, specifically overland flow or runoff, can be determined by finding the direction of steepest descent from each point on the terrain surface. This study aims to determine the flow direction using GIS or, in the case of a raster, digital elevation model (DEM), from each cell in the DEM. The soil flow directions are determined to identify areas from which the soil erodes and where it deposits. In areas such as tropical forest, trees located on the area where the soil erodes should not be harvest as this will accelerate erosion.

Authors: ANUPAM SHARMA

Abstract: Globalization has acquired to be a principal characteristic feature of the new millennium and it has become an inescapable reality in today's society. With the development of globalization most of the countries have come in its periphery and enjoying its outcomes. Earlier Hungary was a communist country with closed economic system and India also adopted mixed economic system after independence but with the wave of globalization both countries could not had isolated themselves and adopted the globalization economy. But with the positive impact of globalization it has also brought negative impact in developing countries as well as in developed countries. It has brought insecurity to the people and particularly in the young population so that incidents of crimes are coming in the air. Crime in a new form is coming out of the air due to advance technology and changing nature of the society. Authors: APHISAKDHIRAVISIT , THANADORNPHUTTHARAK

Abstract: This article focused on the urbanization pattern of a regional city in Thailand. UdonThani city was selected as a case study in this article since the rapid growth rate of the city was higher than other provinces in a decade. The study was conducted by Satellite Images Analysis in order to compare UdonThani Municipality and Suburb areas from 1989–2014. Group discussion was used with representatives from local communities, government sectors, and private sectors. Results found that the urbanization process has been settled based on push and pull factors. Push factors consisted of the expectation of rural people in employment and income. Pull factors consisted of the expanding of the industrial sector, particularly in service and retail sectors, which affected the land-use change n the central business district (CBD) and surrounding communities. In addition, the sustainable urban development plan was suggested by city-related stakeholders. The plan included: 1) equality and justice, 2) z

16. ANALYSIS OF REGIME CHANGE : THE CASE OF EGYP

Authors: SHAWKI M. FARAG

Abstract: Egypt experienced military dictatorship regimes from 1952-2011. The revolution of January 25, 2011 deposed the last dictator who held power for over 30 years. However, the removal of the head of the state doesn’t imply radical changes in the structure of governance. The transition period between the two regimes is quite difficult. This is particularly so as the old regime rendered the few political parties ineffective; and eroded any potential for the emergence of leaders. Therefore, with indifferent elite, and the masses demanding their basic needs including freedom, the army had to be again in control. The agenda this time is to follow a road map to construct a free and democratic political system. The objective of this paper is to provide an analysis of the regime change in Egypt and outline some criteria to judge the emerging new order.

17. LIABLE CITY TOWARD RAPID URBANIZATION IN REGIONAL CITY OF THAILAND

Authors: APISAK DHIRAVISIT

Abstract: Urbanization, referring to a growth in the proportion of a population living in urban areas, is one of the major social changes sweeping the globe. Rapid Urbanization in Thailand without good control, the development without taking effective city plan principal into consideration. Hence, this causes many problems such as shortage of standard level residences, lack of good order and crowded areas in some district. This waste the budget and time in processing and solving this issues. This article aim to analyze urbanization context in regional city of Thailand and present the concept of ‘livable city’ to apply in the city in term of ‘New Urbanism’ which are relatively new approaches to urban design that deals with environmental problems, housing issues, and community well-being.

18. DEMAND UNCERTAINTY AND COST EFFICIENCY : AN EMPIRICAL STUDY OF AIRLINE INDUSTRY

Authors: WINAI HOMSOMBAT

Abstract: Demand uncertainty is the crucial concerns of airline production planning. The airlines regularly fly their airplane below full capacity because fare and capacity need to be set before it operates. During this period, actual demand is more likely to deviate from its forecast. Unsold tickets would lead to lower operating revenue and create unnecessary costs of operation. This study aims at investigating the empirical impact of firm-level volatility on production cost and efficiency. The purposes are to examine the relationship between demand uncertainty and operating cost of an airline, and empirically measure the airline cost competitiveness when taking demand volatility into consideration.

Authors: WINAI HOMSOMBAT , NATAKORN LIMSUWANROT , TAWEESAK KRITJAROEN

Abstract: The economic crisis in 1997 caused tremendous changes to higher education system in Thailand, in particular the decentralization of university's administration. A number of Thai public universities have been gradually transforming to be autonomous universities. However, almost all cannot achieve the most important goal for academic excellence as reflected by global recognition. During the transitional period, King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) was the only public university that transformed from a university under the Civil Services to be an autonomous public university. The university could sustain as one of the leading universities and be ranked in the top 400 World university by Times Higher Education (THE). It relatively outperformed other universities and was regarded as a role model for Thai higher education development. This research aimed to figure out how autonomous public universities could manage to secure from the Thai bureaucratic system and innovate

Abstract: Recent empirical studies in Behavioral Agency Model (see Pepper and Gore, 2012) on executive compensations make evidence how the agent attitude to risk influences the subjectively perceived incentive value. The paper sets out a compensation schedule matching multiple goals: (1) aligning the incentives with the executive subjectively perceived fair and equitable compensation; (2) discouraging the executive excessive risk-taking; (3) providing an approach to calculate the certainty equivalent of the uncertain compensation. To hit the first goal we suggest to use the target-oriented decision approach (see Bordley and LiCalzi, 2000) able to guide the agent in eliciting her subjective value function through the assessment of the (uncertain) target to hit. The proposed approach is compatible with prospect theory (see Kahneman and Tversky, 1979). With reference to the second goal involving the problem on how prevent moral hazard phenomena, we suggest to insert an event-linked option. That war

Authors: LEE KUOK TIUNG , LIANA MAT NAYAN , SITI SURIANI OTHMAN

Abstract: News making in Malaysia involves various types of newspaper production, including serious and tabloid newspapers. This paper intends to study the practices in three Malaysian newspapers, namely Utusan Malaysia (UM), Sinar Harian (SH) and Harian Metro (HM). These newspapers are distinct in their own ways, in that UM is associated with the state and SH is privately-owned and non-partisan, while HM is the most popular tabloid newspaper in the country. The elements of news production examined include the considerations involved in publishing front page news and news selections in editorial meetings, picture selections and the placement of entertainment news in the newspapers. Generally, the findings indicate that each newspaper follows specific methods of determining news, although, on the surface, there are so-called ‘universal’ methods of news making. Thus, the paper argues that, even when a newspaper is produced in a particular country, news making practices are specific and still bound

Under current condition the vast majority of manufacturing companies are situated in town or industrial zone directly connected to infrastructure of a nearby town. This means a lot if advantages but on the other hand it brings many negative impacts on the environment and town life. We may say that in the Czech Republic some significant change happened improving the relation and approach of companies towards the environment. This situation is obvious in multiple locations. However there are still some area where environment issued are not considered seriously and the poor environment conditions significant affect live and health of people. The increasing meaning of environment protection has a strong impact on company activities. Companies are adapting themselves according to the trend either voluntarily or because of the r

Authors: ADEOYE TEMITOPE A , GESINDE A. M. , IGBOKWE DAVID O.

Abstract: The study described the systematic processes involved in the development and validation of a self-report instrument tagged “Indices of Financial Intelligence” [IFI] designed to measure financial intelligence. A total of 250 undergraduate students randomly selected from 100 to 500 levels in a Nigerian private university participated in the study. The participants’ age ranged from 15-29 years with mean age of 18.53. Indices of Financial Intelligence scale was used to generate data. The original scale has 34 items that were clustered into three dimensions of spending, saving and giving money. The result of a principal component factor analysis confirmed the three factor theoretical model of the IFI namely, spending, saving, and giving money but with 25 items loading significantly in the three factors combined. The obtained communality ranged from 0.186 to 0.622 while significant correlations between 0.351 and 0.880 were observed between the three factors. A Cronbach Alpha of 0.89 establis

Abstract: Islamic Managerial Leadership (ILI) is expected to be a combination of modern dimensions of conventional managerial leadership and fundamental dimensions of Islamic leadership. The dimensions of ILI were inductively developed through comparative content analysis based on the concept of Servant Leadership and the Islamic Leadership. The content analysis revealed 19 separate clusters in which 79 items were identified for ILI. Most of the items are self-developed, based on several widely-used managerial leadership inventory. ILI was distributed to 120 Muslim professionals with leadership roles in Malaysia. The results of the Principal Component Analysis revealed the presence of 10 clusters with eigenvalues exceeding 1, explaining 56.47% variance. The 10 clusters could validate the 19 clusters identified in the comparative content analysis based on the reason that most of the items are loaded in the 10 clusters. In addition, each dimension has good internal consistency, with a cronbach alp

Abstract: In 2005, Malaysia crafted history as it instigated the first ever Islamic quality management system in the world, namely Islamic Quality Management System MS 1900:2005. MS 1900 is developed employing ISO 9001 as its base. MS 1900 is a structured system to help organisations in delivering products and services that congregate customers’ requirements, as well as regulatory requirements and the dictates of Shari’a (Islamic commandment). The Shari’a requirements are incorporated as an addition to the requirements of ISO 9001, and intend to close the gap that exists in the ISO 9001 standard in relation to the Islamic perspective. MS 1900 has three principles; namely compliance to the principles of Halal and Haram, value based management and decision taken in line with the objective of Shari’a (upholding human interest). Despite an ignition of interest in the promising of QMS in the recent years, little research has been carried out to study the MS 1900 implementation processes within higher
