1. THE EXEGESIS OF THE QURAN THROUGH THE MEANS OF AL-ISYARAH: A CRITICAL EVALUATION

Abstract: Since the early days of Islam till present day Muslim scholars have given great emphasis on the science of Quranic exegesis [`ilm al-tafsir]. Their enthusiasm and dedication is proven by the great number of authentic works on the subject. What is also evident is the various methods and approaches that were implemented in their quest for understanding the Quran. Among the methods used is what is known as tafsir bi al-isyarah [the interpretation of the Quran through the means al-isyarah]. Although not all Muslim scholars acknowledge the validity of this method of al-isyarah, it had been used by a handful of authoritative scholars in defining the meaning of the Quran. These works are still in existence today. This paper discusses the value and the validity of this mode of interpreting the Quran and the extent of its relevancy nowadays.

2. CONSTRUCT VALIDATION OF TEACHER EFFICACY IN TEACHING ARABIC SCALE A CO-VARIANCE BASED APPROACH

Abstract: The first attempt of this study is to investigate teacher efficacy construct. In so doing, this study tries to develop the extent to which the conceptualized teacher measure reproduces the data. Second, this study evaluates the adequacy of the teacher efficacy measure across teacher’s place of graduation. The data were collected from adopted version of Teachers’ Sense of Efficacy Scale administered to 252 teachers of National Religious Secondary School in Malaysia. The results of confirmatory factor analysis supported the adequacy of teacher efficacy measure and found that teacher is a multidimensional construct with four underlying dimensions. 3. ONLINE COMMUNICATION IN DIFFERENT CULTURAL SETTINGS A COMPARISON BETWEEN AUSTRIAN AND THAI CONSUMERS

Abstract: Research shows that consumers share different content in online and offline settings. In offline settings, consumers tend to communicate primarily rational content with strangers and emotional content with people they know. In addition, previous findings indicate that consumers in collectivistic cultures (interdependent self-construal) display more emotional content than consumers in individualistic cultures (independent self-construal). Our results reveal considerable differences between online and offline content of communications and differences according to the self-construal of Austrian and Thai consumers. 4. SUSTAINABILITY IN ORGANIZATION DEVELOPMENT RESEARCH OUTCOME AND CURRENT PRACTICE

Abstract: Since the publishing of what has become to be known as the ‘Brundtland-Report’ in 1987 the term sustainability has been used in various ways. However, there is almost no relevant literature that would explicitly exhort the concept of sustainability in the context of Organization Development (OD) itself. The paper attempts to sketch sustainability in the organizational field as a contingent matter. In effect, in capturing potential aspects of sustainability that might be ‘in the room’ and in dialoguing about the relevance thereof for an OD endeavor we deem it to be primordial to give a voice to both the existing environments and those that might possibly arise in the future. 5. INCREASING PARTICIPATION OF SUBSAHARAN AFRICAN ENTREPRENEURS IN CAPITAL MARKETS – A STUDY OF GHANA

Abstract: Well-functioning stock exchanges have been linked to economic growth in many parts of the world. However, in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) listed companies and stock exchange activities reflect very little of country economic activities and economic output remains low. Research that has focused on unravelling constraints hampering the development of stock exchanges has been mostly aimed at identifying and removing transactional bottlenecks – trading systems, liquidity, institutions, and market integration. This study, conceived of as a fore-runner of the study of other SSA economies, identifies a new perspective on how to strategize for more companies in SSA to access the capital markets. 6. THE TECHNOLOGY ACCEPTANCE MODEL: AN ECOMMERCE EXTENSION

Abstract: Electronic-commerce has gained a great importance as a medium for conducting business. Researchers and market executives alike are still studying online consumer behavior with the purpose of better understanding it. One model widely used for understanding technology adoption in general is the technology acceptance model (TAM). In this study, we develop and test an Ecommerce specific extension of the TAM. Two predictor variables are added to the original TAM, namely, process satisfaction, and outcome satisfaction. In addition, the TAM is extended by measuring actual behavior, in contrast to previous TAM application studies that measured intentions as a substitute for actual behavior. We measured actual use variable in terms of four criterion variables, namely, purchase, access number, access total time, and access average time. The extended TAM proved to better fit Ecommerce environments by better explaining actual behavior than the original TAM.

10. E-COMMERCE EXTENDED TAM INSTRUMENT DEVELOPMENT

Abstract: E-commerce proved its importance as a reliable and viable channel of conducting business and consumer transactions. Researchers suggest the application and extension of the technology acceptance model (TAM) in different business and IS environements. In E-commerce, the TAM has been applied both in its original form and as an extended model in order to better understand online consumer behavior. However the instruments used did not include items that were balanced between the proess and the outcome of the onine shopping behavior. In this study, we develop and test instruments for an E-commerce specific extended TAM. These instrumets balance between items measuring procees satisfaction and outcome satisfaction, in addition to the original TAM constructs, namely perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. The study instruments proved to have reliability, convergent, discriminant and factorial validity.

12. THE ROLE OF BONDING, BRIDGING AND LINKING SOCIAL CAPITAL IN LIFE SATISFACTION A CASE OF MIGRANTS IN SPAIN

This analysis is based on three types of social capital, and examines their relationship with the individual’s perceived life satisfaction. 13. PANEL DATA PPML APPROACH TO THE GRAVITY MODEL THE CASE OF VISEGRAD COUNTRIES EXPORT

Abstract: The paper presents the use of the augmented gravity model for panel data. Silva and Tenreyro (2006) showed that the formerly used Hausman-Taylor estimator fails to provide consistent estimates in this class of models. They propose the use of Poisson pseudo maximum likelihood (PPML) approach, that consists in solving a set of first order condition equations that stem from the Poisson regression model but are applied to attain estimates in the log-linear regression. We expand their results by including random country effects in the model, which allows for the more efficient use of country-level panel data. We use the above described model to estimate the effects of a couple of factors on the value of exports of the group of Visegrad countries (V-4, Visegrad four). These include the EU accession and the recent economic crisis, as well as other countries’ characteristics typically included in the gravity models. Particularly, the growing integration of financial markets seems to be a key factor of convergence of corporate governance systems. In the last quarter century, the convergence has been promoted by regulatory and selfregulatory actions directed to the spread of best practices of corporate governance. 16. NETWORKING AND FACEWORK AS POLITICAL BEHAVIOR WITHIN ORGANIZATIONS

Abstract: In recent organizational studies, attention to organizational politics and political behavior has been increasing. This study explored the process of political behaviors within organizations using qualitative research of a sample of workers in Japanese firms. Through grounded theory approach, this study identified three constructs of political behaviors: (a) political use of non-political interpersonal networks, (b) leveraging social capital, and (c) other-face-saving behaviors. This study revealed the process of networking and the political use of interpersonal networks, which previous studies on political behaviors have not sufficiently investigated. Moreover, the results of this study can integrate the literature on political behavior and that of facework, which few prior studies have examined in the context of organizational politics.

17. THE INFLUENCE OF BIG DATA IN THE PRACTICES OF STRATEGIC INTELLIGENCE PROFESSIONALS IN BRAZIL

Abstract: Strategic use of information is at the core of intelligence activity whose focus has been largely directed to the use of technology for data analysis. However, in practice the human factor still remains decisive for the correct and incorrect interpretation of data. In this article we present the outcome of a study on how the big data phenomenon is perceived and influences the activities of strategic intelligence (SI) professionals in Brazil. We used both the social constructionist research and the content analysis methods to analyzed in-depth interviews with strategic intelligence experts in Brazil. The results indicate that intelligence analysis is not as yet directly benefiting from the big data phenomenon. If on one side big data favours data collection, on the other it hinders the command of the subject. The study also showed that, for some interviewees big data is already integrated into the more elaborate professional practices and in the development of specific projects. However

22. THE CONSTRUCT COMPARABILITY APPROACH: AN EMPIRAL STUDY IN SPAIN

Abstract: The present study aims to perform a comparative analysis of 6 courses using the Rasch model with a sample of 1398 students (M = 12.5, SD = 0.67) from 8 schools in the province of Alicante (Spain). The fist data analysis showed a misfit of the model. After recoding the categories (from 9 to 4), a good fit was observed in most of the courses. The differential item functioning (DIF) by gender was significant in the visual arts education course. The measurement of a single latent construct is confirmed in this study.

23. CAN DICTATOR AND ULTIMATUM GAME PREDICT ETHICAL DECISION-MAKING? RESEARCH BY MEANS OF THE IN-CLASS BEHAVIORAL EXPERIMENT

Abstract: Objective of the article is to analyze the capacity of economic games dictator and ultimatum to predict ethical behavioral tendencies in the managerial context. The research has been carried out on the basis of the in-class behavioral experiment, using the principles of Gepard (Generator of Economic Behavior in Pedagogic Activities for Research and Development). There were 157 participants; under-graduate students of business. A structural equation model (SEM) was used to test the predictors, which is suitable for non-parametric variables. A three-dimension graphical analysis was used for illustrative reasons. Results show that the combination of both games, dictator and ultimatum, works as a good predictor of the ethical decision-making in the managerial context. The results can find a wide application in the field of HR management, especially recruitment; however a further research is needed.

Abstract: A strong, sturdy and stable banking system is a basic condition for how the engine of the economy of a country works, and thus to support sustainable economic growth. In theory, the Basel Accords I, II and III aim to achieve these characteristics of strength, endurance and stability for the financial system. However, in the light of the financial crisis of the past 20 years, there are doubts about the effectiveness that the Basel agreements had to support banks during financial storms over the years of its implementation.

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to identify smartphone addiction that were likely to become risk factor for suicidal ideation and to define the mediating effects of adolescents' selfcontrol. This study is attention to the effect of Smartphone addiction as a new risk factor. Family and school problems on previous studies for the adolescent suicide that used to be focused are control variable. In order to accomplish this purpose, a total of 1,601 who are middle and high school students in Seoul and Gyeonggi province, South Korea were utilized. The data were analyzed by frequency analysis, and the multiple regression model analysis with SPSS 21.0. The main results of this study are as follows. First, about four out of ten (40.4%) of adolescents have experienced the thought of committing suicide for the past year. Second, Smartphone addiction risk, is 24.5 percent of all respondents. Findings – The internal audit activity through risk based assurance and consulting services and its knowledge of the business is uniquely positioned to contribute towards integrated reporting.
