1. SUBCELLULAR LEVEL RESOLUTION FLUORESCENCE MEASUREMENTS IN YEAST CELLS BY IMAGE ANALYSIS

Authors: EVGENY PUCHKOV

Abstract: Computer image analysis algorithms of the ImageJ software (National Institutes of Health, USA; http://rsb.info.nih.gov/ij) have been tailored for subcellular microfluorimetry of the single Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast cells. The algorithms were used for the quantitative analysis of digital images acquired by wide-field fluorescence microscopy combined with color digital photography aiming to investigate the intracellular distribution of anthracycline anticancer drug doxorubicin and to evaluate viscosity in the vacuoles of t he cells

2. REJUVENATE GROUNDWATER QUALITY BY ARTIFICIAL RECHARGE USING GIS AND REMOTE SENSING

Authors: GEETHA SELVARANI ARUMAIKKANI , SAMSON SISUPALAN

Abstract: Groundwater is an essential and vital natural resource and its significantly use for drinking, irrigation and industrial purposes. But, now-a-days the quality of groundwater is deteriorating day by day due to anthropogenic activities. So we are in a position to assess the quality of groundwater before consumption. The water samples were collected at random locations and it covers all the plain area of the district. The base map of the study area was developed by the Survey of India (SOI) Toposheets and sample locations were marked on that map. The geology, geomorphology, soil, drainage, landuse/land cover, rainfall, water level and rainfall maps of the study area have been digitized using GIS. Water samples were collected from 62 locations and evaluated based on IS:10500-1991 for drinking purpose and suitability of water for irrigation is evaluated by irrigation quality guide lines. Based on the comparison of groundwater quality, Premonsoon groundwater quality is found better than the

3. GEOELECTRICAL SOUNDING FOR GROUNDWATER INTERPRETATION IN OIL PALM PLANTATION

Authors: ABIMANYU DIPO NUSANTARA , RISKA EKAWITA , SUPANJANI , YAZID ISMI INTARA , ZUL BAHRUM CANIAGO

Abstract: Data on aquifer characteristic is an important factor in studying groundwater, especially to determine the capacity of groundwater, which can be stored in the soil layer and how much that can be utilized. Geoelectrical survey was applied to observed groundwater at oil palm plantation. The research was conducted in PT. Bio Nusantara oil palm plantation, Bengkulu Province, Indonesia especially at 2, 4, 7, 14 and 22 years of mature plant age (TM). As a comparison for the mature plant age level, the survey was also performed at the oil palm plantation farm–soccer field, oil palm plantation farm-residential and oil palm plantation farm- secondary forest. The result of electric survey on TM2 and TM4 showed some rocks, clay and dry litter still existed. While at the depth over than 4 m was dominated by a shallow aquifer. The dry zone wasn’t found at site of TM7, TM14 and TM22, all sites was in high soil humidity. The electric survey result at oil palm plantation farm–soccer field indica

4. THE PERFORMANCE TESTED OF MULTICHANNEL DATA ACQUISITION SYSTEM IN MEASUREMENT OF SOIL MOISTURE

Authors: ABIMANYU DIPO NUSANTARA , RISKA EKAWITA , SUPANJANI , YAZID ISMI INTARA , ZUL BAHRUM CANIAGO

Abstract: One of the soil conditions that affect the development of a plant and crop production is the soil moisture. Therefore, it is necessary to monitor this property with multi points and real time of observation around the plant environment. In this research, it had been designed and tested a multichannel soil moisture measurement system with the wireless communication system. The system consists of transmitter and receiver blocks using soil moisture sensors as a soil moisture detector and microcontroller media in both blocks as the overall control of the measurement system. The measured result data is observed directly through the PC display. Laboratory scale testing is done as calibration process of the output voltage from sensor to soil moisture. The soil moisture 14.45 %; 19.92% and 26.73% comparable to 4.71 volt; 4.13 volt and 3.06 volt output voltage respectively. While the resistance values of each humidity were equal to 170.87 kΩ; 49.49 kΩ and 16.36 kΩ. The whole system test is d

5. TREATMENT MONITORING OF ANTIRETROVIRAL DRUG: ON THE BASIS OF THE ADHERENCE TO THE CURRENT ANTIRETROVIRAL THERAPY AVAILABLE IN BANGLADESH

Authors: FARIHA HOSSAIN , RAUSHANARA AKTER

Abstract: though the prevalence of HIV is still less than 0.1% in Bangladesh, the number of newly infected patient is rising day by day. After the invention of combine ARV (antiretroviral) regiments, the success rate of antiretroviral drug has been increased dramatically. Therefore, the study has been designed to find out the factors related to adherence to antiretroviral therapy (ART). This study was designed as a cross-sectional study which was conducted through a selfdesigned questionnaire and non-probability purposive sampling technique had been used to select the sample size. The data had been collected from159 eligible HIV infected adults who have been receiving ARV for at least one year and the study had been conducted in the Hospitals of Dhaka city. This study found the current prescribed ARV regiments along with the socio-demographic characteristics of the patients and the major factors that influence the adherence rate among the patients. The findings of the study will help to strength

6. TRANSCRITICAL CO2 REFRIGERATION SYSTEMS FOR BUILDING COOLING AND HEATING REDUCE ENERGY AND COOLING WATER CONSUMPTION, EMISSIONS AND THE LEGIONELLA DANGER

Authors: KLAAS VISSER

Abstract: In many large office buildings, hospitals and hotels AC cooling is affected by chilled water generated by a refrigerating plant which rejects its heat to the environment by means of cooling tower water or, increasingly so, by air cooled condensers and adiabatically assisted air-cooled condensers. Hot water for space heating, AC reheat and sanitary purposes is usually provided by a boiler. Using a COAG, the Council of Australian Governments, data base on annual energy consumption per m2 of building, it is shown that significant reductions in the electrical energy, natural gas and cooling water consumption may be achieved when using transcritical CO2 refrigerating systems for building cooling, heating and sanitary hot water, thus saving gas and attendant emissions, and cooling water. It is shown that the specific energy consumption measured in kWh/m2.annum reduces about 30% when retrofitting trans-critical CO2 systems to existing Australian buildings and about 55% in new buildings. These

7. ANALYZE THE MECHANICAL CHARACTERIZATION OF GLASS FIBER- EPOXY MODIFIED COMPOSITE MATERIALS

Authors: GEETHA SELVARANI ARUMAIKKANI , SIVAKUMAR CHELLIAH

Abstract: The weight reduction with enhanced strength is the primary requirement of Automobile Engineering field. Fiber which serves as a reinforcement in reinforced plastics may be synthetic or natural past studies show that only artificial fibers such as glass, carbon etc., have been used in fiber reinforced plastics. Nowadays silencer covers are making from conventional materials like stainless steel. Disadvantages of using conventional materials are more weight and higher manufacturing cost. Instead of going for conventional material the present study is reduce the weight of the product and minimize the cost. The significant technical advance is to identify the new composite material, which consists of glass fiber/modified epoxy laminates with inclusion of nano fillers .This material will be used to fabricate new auto ancillary parts and its mechanical characteristics will be analyzed. Parts produced by these materials are obtained more strength and life time than the existing parts and whic
