2. IFAS WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANTS PERFORMANCE EVALUATION USING A DYNAMIC MODEL APPROACH

Abstract: This study concerns the upgrading of a real domestic wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) supported by simulation. The main aims of this work are to: (1) Improve wastewater treatment plant performance Using integrated fixed film activated sludge IFAS), and (2) perform a cost estimation analysis for proposed solution.The modelused was calibrated based on data from the existing WWTP, namely,Eastern plant and located in Alexandria, Egypt. The activated sludge model No. 1 (ASM1) was considered in the model analysis by GPS-X 7 software. Steady-state analysis revealed that high performances corresponded to high compliance with Egyptian standards were achieved by IFAS technique.

3. MULTIVARIATE STATISTICAL ANALYSIS AND WATER QUALITY INDEX TO ASSESSMENT WATER QUALITY IN LAKES

Abstract: This study concerns using Multivariate statistical analysis to handle the large complex datasets in lakes and use water quality index factor to estimate the water quality in lakes.This study investigated the seasonal and spatial variations of water quality parameters in Burullus Lake in Egypt as a case study. Significant seasonal changes (p < 0.05) were observed in temperature,pH and phosphate (PO4-P), whereas significant spatial differences (p < 0.05) were detected in pH, salinity, dissolved oxygen (DO), ammonium-nitrogen (NH4-N), nitrite-nitrogen (NO2-N), nitrate-nitrogen (NO3-N), PO4-P, silicate (SiO4) and Chlorophyll-a (Chl-a). The water quality index (WQI) estimated using the inputs of: salinity, DO, NH4-N, NO3-N, PO4-P, and Chl-a. The (WQI) of the lake was rated as Bad to Very bad. Abstract: Several nations in the Caribbean sub-region have abundant resources of heavy oils which contain asphaltenes. These oils can be mined and monetized for national development, however successful processing of this resource is impeded by the unpredictable behavior of the asphaltenes such as precipitation, which can lead to pipe blockage during transport, and fouling of process equipment, thus adding to costs.
